Indication: Anatomical lateral proximal tibia bone plates are designed to be used for reducing fractures of the proximal tibia. These plates are indicated where the shape of the fracture or the soft tissue problems do not make plate attachment to the medial tibial surface advisable. It is designed to sit on the lateral aspect of the proximal tibia. The anatomical bone plate features show the following important factors to osteo-synthesis as; permit a stable fixation of the small proximal and distal fragments. They consider the various physiological stability factors of distal spongiosa and meta-to diaphyseal fractures. They are curved and twisted to conform to the nature shape of the proximal and distal bones areas. They simplify reduction in case of extended fractures as their anterior surface is contoured to minimize tissue irritation. |
Screws to be used: Head of plate accept 6.5 mm cancellous screws. Plate shaft accepts 4.5 mm cortical screws. The screw holes into distal and are placed so as to allow cancellous screw to be placed in different directions. Two small holes at the very end of the plate are for temporary fixation with kirschner wires. An oval hole in the proximal part of the plate permit fixation with an excentrically or medially placed cortical screw while allowing enough room for application of a compression device.

Plate details: To conform to the ventro-tibial contours of the proximal tibia, the plate is twisted and curved an has a concav surface on its bone side and broadened distal end. The pre-form shape of the plate requires that a separate plate to be used for right and left tibia. Plate Thickness: 3.0mm Plate width: 17.0mm Head width: 24.5mm Hole Spacing: 18.0mm |
