2.7 ø Cancellous Screws: The main indication for using cancellous screws is when the cortex is thinner than 3.5 mm. The short threaded screws are used for fractures of the femoral neck in adolescents; separated epiphysis and for certain fractures of the tibial plateau. The long threaded screws are used for fractures in the vicinity of joints. The head has a hexagonal socket and the screw is inserted by using screwdriver.
